The State Security Court (SCC) held its first session Wednesday for the trial of dismissed MP Imad Al-Adwan, who was detained by the Israeli Occupation Forces in April for attempting to smuggle large quantities of firearms, gold and electronic cigarettes.

Defense lawyers raised several objections and motions before delving into the essence of the case, questioning the accused about the charges brought against them by the prosecutor general.

In response, the court decided to allow defense lawyers to submit motions and objections on behalf of their clients in the next session, scheduled for Tuesday (Sept. 26).

Adwan, along with 13 other defendants, faces four charges before the court including exporting firearms with the intent of using them unlawfully, in violation of Articles 3 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 55 of 2006, and its amendments. In addition to violating Article 7 of the same law repeated four times.

They are also accused of selling firearms with the intent of unlawful use, in contravention of Articles 3 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.

Moreover, they are charged with attempting to export firearms with the intent of unlawful use, in violation of Articles 3 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, and with engaging in activities that disrupt public order and jeopardize the safety of society, in violation of Articles 2 and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.
