Three pharmacies shut down in Madaba
The Madaba Health Directorate took action Saturday by shutting down three pharmacies and issuing a warning against a medical laboratory in response to regulatory violations.
The Director of Madaba Health Amani Al-Farah shared that these measures were initiated during inspection rounds conducted by the Directorate of Licensing and Professions.
One pharmacy was found to be operating with an assistant pharmacist instead of a legally designated pharmacist, leading to its immediate closure as per regulatory protocols. The case was reported to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA).
Farah told Roya the pharmacy will remain closed until compliance is achieved, and a qualified and licensed pharmacist is appointed to oversee operations.
Two other pharmacies were also closed for being owned by individuals who had not been operational for over six months.
Elaborating on this, Farah mentioned that according to the Medicine and Pharmacy Law, a pharmacy that remains closed for more than six months, or has its registration revoked, is subject to closure. This action is taken to ensure the safety of citizens by preventing the presence of expired medications in circulation.
The inspection teams also took note of a medical laboratory operating in Madaba, issuing a warning due to the absence of its director during the time of inspection.
