Former Deputy Prime Minister Marwan Muasher has commented on the evolving dynamics of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that it has now entered a new phase characterized by the presence of a far-right Israeli Occupation government that refuses to entertain the idea of a Palestinian state.

Muasher, who was previously Jordan's Ambassodor in Washington and Tel Aviv, articulated that defending the Palestinian cause now relies on only a few key players, namely Jordan, Egypt, and the Palestinian Authority. He noted that the majority of other Arab nations have shifted their stances in their relationships with the Israeli Occupation.

He highlighted the need to "reevaluate" Jordan's relationship with the Israeli Occupation, particularly since the international community no longer considers the two-state solution a viable option, and previously signed agreements have lost their relevance.

In a broader geopolitical context, Muasher noted that the Middle East no longer occupies the top spot on the world's priority list, with the United States shifting its focus more towards China.

With these considerations in mind, he stressed the importance of a national discourse in Jordan, urging a thorough examination of available options.

This is especially crucial given the various internal and external challenges confronting the country, including issues related to the global economy, surging oil prices and alarmingly high unemployment rates.

Notably, Muasher was one of the key negotiators before the signing of the peace treaty with the Israeli Occupation in 1994.
