According to a report released by the National Center for Forensic Medicine, they handled a total of 26,327 cases in the first half of 2023. Among these cases, there were 51 murders, 81 suicides, 302 deaths from traffic accidents, and 22 deaths of inmates in reform and rehabilitation centers.

Forensic clinics across Jordan attended to 17,539 cases, including 8,788 deaths, with 4,507 requiring judicial forensic examination and 4,281 considered ordinary deaths.

Among the deaths requiring judicial forensic examination were 18 cases involving crimes against women, 11 of which were in the central region, three in the northern region and four in the southern region.

In cases of suicides, death by hanging was the most prevalent method, with 50 recorded cases. Other methods recorded were using firearms, pesticides or medicine, as well as burns and jumping from high places.

One-third of deaths as a result of traffic accidents were recorded in Amman, another third in Irbid and Zarqa, and the rest in the governorates across the Kingdom.

Among the deaths recorded within correctional centers most were due to natural causes or heart disease. Only two cases involved suicide, both of which were death by hanging.

Regarding forensic medical cases related to sexual assault, a total of 17,539 cases were reported across the regions. The Family Protection Department's clinics handled 366 cases, with 279 in the central region, 67 in the northern region, and 20 in the southern region, while the remainder were related to quarrels or other forms of abuse.
