Palestinian official briefly detained during peaceful protest in Salfit

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) Tuesday briefly detained the head of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission Moayad Shaaban after attacking an anti-settlements protest in the village of Deir Istiya in Salfit.

Local sources said the official was detained while he was participating in the protest during which IOF soldiers fired tear gas canisters at demonstrators and assaulted journalists to prevent them from covering the event.

The Governor of Salfit Abdullah Kmail told WAFA that the IOF suppressed a peaceful protest and opened fire and tear gas at protesters.
