Jordan's Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh addressed the reasons behind the dispute between Jordan and TikTok saying the conflict centers around the content being published on the platform.

During a dialogue session at Yarmouk University entitled "Visions of Modernization: Youth is the Focus of Concern," he noted that Jordan's condition for TikTok's reactivation in the Kingdom is that the company must establish an office in Jordan or a regional office.

In January, a TikTok spokesperson told Roya that the platform is committed to improving and updating its safety policies and tools.

The spokesperson said that the TikTok community in Jordan “has been inspiring creativity in different aspects whether its science, education or sports.”

“354 million views from Jordan to our #LearnonTiktok hashtag, and 138 million views of #Booktok is a testament to the creativity of this community.”

According to the spokesperson, TikTok will continue to take all the required appropriate actions against content that violates their community guidelines.

“We are also committed to keeping TikTok a safe and positive environment for our global community.”

On Dec. 16, 2022, TikTok was suspended temporarily in Jordan by authorities after some users posted videos aimed at spreading false news and acts of violence.
