Four fires break out amid Jordan's first intense heatwave
Four fires broke concurrently in Amman, Ajloun and Karak Thursday, as the first intense heatwave this summer hits Jordan.
-Amman fires-
The first fire was reported near Ghamdan Park in the southern region of the capital, which the relevant authorities extinguished without any significant damage reported.
The second fire in the capital broke out in a sponge factory in the Ras al-Ain area, which is expected to be fully extinguished by Friday dawn. No injuries or casualties were reported.
-Ajloun fire-
A fire broke out Thursday evening in Wadi Al-Sham Forest in Ajloun, which firefighters put out but the cause is still being investigated.
-Karak fire-
A fire erupted in a restaurant located in Al-Marj in Karak, when a gas cylinder suddenly exploded. The intensity of the flames resulted in the complete destruction of the restaurant.
Swift action from the firefighting team of the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent shops and residential buildings.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in this incident, and the extent of the damage was limited to material possessions.
