After the issuance of a Royal Decree Sunday approving the decision of the Council of Ministers to suspend Defense Law No. 13 of 1992 in Jordan, legal expert Laith Nasraween listed the most prominent defense orders that have been subsequently suspended.

  • The defense order related to the imprisonment of debtors
  • Defense orders related to lockdowns and facemasks
  • Defense Order No. 21 related to registering legal cases electronically
  • Defense Order No. 6 related to employment contracts and the ban on dismissing employees appointed before the date of April 8, 2020
  • The defense order that obliges health centers to report positive coronavirus cases to the Ministry of Health

Nasraween confirmed that all defense orders came to an end with the suspension of the law, which came based on the issuance of the Royal Decree Sunday.

He pointed out that this also means that a number of laws, regulations, instructions and legislation will be restored in accordance with the Constitution.

Notably, the government issued a total of 36 defense orders and 63 defense communications since the Defense Law came into effect.
