A Chinese man found a corpse under his hotel bed in Tibet after becoming suspicious with the smell which he thought at first might have been caused by his own feet.

The man had checked into an 'influencer hotel' in Lhasa on April 21 and immediately noticed a “strong smell” but he went to sleep before going out a few hours later.

When he returned to change for dinner, he noticed the smell once again but thought it may have come from his feet, the room’s heating system or even the bakery downstairs.

After coming back from dinner, he requested a different room because the smell was too bad.

A few hours into the night, hotel staff knocked on Mr Zhang’s door and asked him to go back to the room he had vacated for police to take his statement and collect a DNA sample.

Police told him that they already arrested a suspect and investigations are underway but did not give more details.

Mr Zhang shared on social media what happened to him and his post went viral. The hotel, however, denied the incident which left the man forced to give more details and provide receipt as evidence of his stay.

The police also shared video of the suspect being arrested on a train in Lanzhou city, which is located in another province.
