Tucker Carlson, Fox News 'part ways'

Monday, Fox News announced that the highest-rated cable TV host Tucker Carlson has left the network.

According to their statement, Fox News said they agreed to "part ways," after he appeared on their screen for the last time Friday.

The reason behind the decision was not disclosed but Fox News announced that an interim program Fox News Tonight will air during the primetime spot until a permanent replacement is found.

A Fox News Media spokesperson said: "We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor."

According to the Los Angeles Times, firing Carlson was a decision that came from top management, including the network's chairman Rupert Murdoch and his son.

The decision to 'part ways' is believed to be sudden as Carlson ended his last appearance saying: "We'll be back on Monday."
