Wednesday, the media spokesperson for the Ministry of Education Ahmed Al-Masaafa said the decision to suspend attendance in all schools across Jordan due to the current weather conditions, was made to ensure the safety of students.

He explained that the decision to suspend attendance on a national level came following the announcement that the depression will affect the Kingdom as a whole.

He stressed that the safety of students is a priority for the ministry.

Masaafa said he believes that it is "unwise" to switch to distance education, one day after the start of the second semester.

He also noted that students will make up for these days at the end of the semester.

The head of the Parliamentary Education Committee Bilal Al-Momani said that the decision to suspend school attendance, due to the weather conditions currently affecting Jordan, is a sound and wise decision.

Regarding distance education, he said that the ministry should be ready to switch to remote learning in any circumstance.

Momani stressed that the shift to distance education has become an inevitable option.
