Tuesday, a paper prepared by the National Center for Human Rights (NCHR), in cooperation and coordination with the “New Consultative Approach to Support Human Rights” project, implemented by the Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ), clarified that the distance education experience in Jordan, which was imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, needs to be developed, through which a lot of effort is required.

The paper confirmed that the experience revealed a set of challenges that directly affected the right to education, represented by the difficulty of engaging a number of students in distance education due to the lack of available internet or cellular data packages, according to the statements made by the Ministry of Education.

The Education Ministry indicated that despite recording 28 million views on their 'Darsak' platform, the lack of distance education tools, weak internet lines and sudden interruptions, were major obstacles to the effectiveness of the distance education experience.

NCHR warned of the lack of attention to the needs of students with disabilities for distance learning, who are not receiving daily education at the appropriate level to match their requirements.

These students need special tools and methods commensurate with their disabilities and their mental, audio, visual, behavioral, autism, language and speech disorders.

The paper recommended providing students in all regions, especially remote areas, with distance learning tools, and developing improved networks of internet lines, which leads to the development of education based on modern technology, as well as the inclusion of distance learning programs for people with disabilities of all kinds.
