Jordanian politician Laith Shubeilat passes away

Jordanian politician Laith Shubailat passed away Sunday at the age of 80.

Shubailat was born in Amman on Oct. 28, 1942.

He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the American University of Beirut in 1964.

In 1968, he gained his master's degree from George Washington University.

In 1982, Shubailat was elected for the first time as the head of the Jordanian Engineers Association as the first person from the Muslim Brotherhood political party to win this seat.

He entered the Jordanian Parliament twice, in 1984 and 1989.
