Petra Tourism Board making efforts to improve animal welfare

The Chairman of the Petra Development and Tourism Authority Board of Commissioners, Suleiman Al-Farajat, met with the Vice President of International Affairs of PETA Organization for Animal Welfare and director of the organization's branch in Jordan Wednesday. 

Al-Farajat discussed ways of joint cooperation between the Petra Regional Authority and the organization regarding the provision of veterinary services to animals in the region, and joint measures that would create an appropriate healthy environment that would benefit the level of animal welfare in the region.

Al-Farajat stressed that the authority seeks, within its drawn up plans, to intensify efforts to improve the level of animal welfare, especially working animals in the archaeological site in the city of Petra.

Farajat presented the organization with the latest developments and future plans for developing the infrastructure and logistical service for the animals working in the archaeological site, which will benefit the level of health care for them.

Al-Farajat pointed out the importance of concerted efforts of all stakeholders in the region to develop the reality of animals in Petra, and taking into consideration the importance of improving the level of kindness to them within future plans.
