Four defendants sentenced to prison for kidnapping 12-year-old girl
Four defendants were sentenced to two to three years of temporary labor for kidnapping a 12-year-old girl and taking her to a deserted area.
This came as the Court of Cassation, the highest judicial body, ratified the ruling issued by the Grand Criminal Court in Irbid.
According to the court’s decision, the crime occurred in the Ramtha District in January 2020.
While the girl, who is a 12-year-old girl of Arab nationality, was in a public street, the accused kidnapped her as they were driving by.
The defendants took her to an empty area in Ramtha and then one of the defendants placed a sharp object on the victim's face, causing cuts.
The medical report showed two superficial cuts on the face and left hand.
After encountering a passerby, one of the defendants allowed the victim to leave the vehicle, and then she hurried back to her house and informed her father of what had happened and then the family filed a police report.
The Grand Criminal Court had sentenced the first accused to three years of temporary labor, and charged him with the felony of kidnapping.
Additionally, it acquitted the second, third and fourth defendants of the charge of interfering with abuse for lack of convincing legal evidence against them.
The court also acquitted all of the defendants of the crime of attempted sexual assault, while incriminating the second, third and fourth defendants with the felony of assisting with kidnapping, and sentenced each of them to two years of temporary labor.
It has not been disclosed what the fourth defendant actually did or how he became a part of the story.
