Tuesday, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Al-Shamali, decided to set consumer price ceilings for a number of vegetables, starting Wednesday.
The price of each vegetable per KG was set as follows:

<li>Tomatoes: 60 piasters</li>
<li>Cucumber: 50 piasters</li>
<li>Zucchini: 50 piasters</li>
<li>Cauliflower: 50 piasters</li>
<li>Eggplant: 50 piasters</li>
</ul>
It was reported that the decision came after the prices of these items witnessed an uncalled for rise in local markets.
The ministry will conduct inspections to make sure the prices are adhered to. It will also continue to monitor prices of all food commodities, including vegetables, and take appropriate measures in this regard.
