Jordan strongly condemned Colombia's decision to open an embassy in Jerusalem on Wednesday, describing the move as a grave violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
In an official statement, the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, emphasized the Kingdom’s absolute rejection of the move.
He stressed that any measures or decisions aimed at altering the legal or historical status of the holy city are illegal, null, and void of any legal effect.
Ambassador Al-Majali reiterated that the only viable path to achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region rests on upholding international legitimacy.
The Ministry reaffirmed that peace and stability can only be guaranteed through the realization of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
