The Ukrainian presidency announced Thursday evening that Russian forces have taken control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the north of the country, according to Russia Today (RT).
Alena Shevtsova, the advisor to the Ukrainian presidential office, said that the Russians had taken control of the Chernobyl nuclear plant, and that this threatens not only the security of Ukraine, but also the security of Europe.
This information was confirmed by the adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mikhailo Podolyak.
The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on these reports.
