MP: Energy Authority is trying to deflect responsibility

Representative Suleiman Abu Yahya said Friday that the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy Authority is trying to remove the responsibility for the power outage during the recent air depression.

Abu Yahya added that the responsibility for the electricity outage that occurred during the last depression is borne by the Ministry of Energy.

Abu Yahya indicated that the Electricity Company does not trouble the columns, wires and the electrical system in general, pointing out that there is no preventive maintenance.

He pointed out that the last depression was not very strong, and it is possible that stronger depressions will come.

Abu Yahya said: "We claim that we have excess electricity and we cannot serve the citizen."

Representative Zaid Al-Atoum said that the cause of the power outage must be understood, and the citizen affected by the power outage has the right to claim compensation.

Al-Atoum added: "We will be in the House of Representatives to help those affected by the power outage, and there are demands from the deputies to hold a special session to discuss the issue of the power outage."

Some Jordanians are still demanding the return of electricity to their homes, after several malfunctions occurred in various regions as a result of the snowfall on Wednesday night
