Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met today with Vice President of the German Parliament (Bundestag) Aydan Özoğuz. Their meeting focused on efforts to halt the aggression on Gaza and to address the worsening humanitarian disaster resulting from its continuation – according to a statement by the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.

Safadi and Özoğuz discussed joint cooperation in delivering sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid across Gaza, which has been experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis since the war began.

Safadi emphasized the urgent need for the international community to act immediately to stop the “Israeli” aggression on Gaza and to halt Israel's violations of international law and international humanitarian law.

He warned of the worsening catastrophic humanitarian crisis, which has reached the brink of famine due to the ongoing aggression and “Israel's” prevention of the necessary amount of aid from entering and being distributed, as well as its failure to fulfill its legal obligations as the occupying power.

The discussions also covered Jordanian-German relations and the shared commitment to broader cooperation in all fields.

Özoğuz, who is visiting the region to hear Jordan's perspective on regional issues, affirmed the special importance of German-Jordanian relations.

She stressed that Germany fully understands the suffering in the region and is committed to working with Jordan to find practical solutions to end the ongoing suffering in the Middle East and achieve a two-state solution.
