Israeli Occupation announces construction of 1,355 new settlement units in West Bank
Sunday, the Israeli Occupation Ministry of Housing and Construction confirmed the Jewish state's intention to build 1,355 new settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank.
"Tenders for 1,355 housing units in the towns of Judea and Samaria (West Bank) were published under the supervision of Housing Minister Ze'ev Elkin," the ministry said in a statement.
These housing units will be added to the more than 2,000 settlement units that are expected to receive the final green light this week from the Ministry of Defense.
Minister Elkin of the right-wing "New Hope" party said that "strengthening the Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria is fundamental to the Zionist vision."
According to the ministry's statement, the new units will be built in seven settlements, notably 729 in Ariel settlement (northern West Bank), 346 in Beit El (near Ramallah), and 102 in Elkana settlement (northwest of the West Bank).
Sunday's statement comes several days after settlers announced the construction of 31 new settlement units in the city of Hebron in the southern West Bank, which the Israeli Occupation occupied, including East Jerusalem, in 1967.
Today, more than 600,000 settlers live in it, among more than three million Palestinians.
Settlements are a violation of international law and opposed by the international community.
