Amman Magistrates Court holds its first session in Youth Ministry embezzlement case

The ten defendants in the case of embezzlement of JD 800,000 from the Ministry of Youth pleaded not guilty to the eight charges that were filed against them by the Public Prosecution.

The court decided to try defendant No. 11 in absentia.

Among the defendants are officials of the Ministry of Youth, most of them are over 50 years of age.

The first session of the case was held remotely, headed by Judge Nasser Al-Salahin, with the membership of Judge Fadi Musleh, and the presence of all the accused, and their defense attorneys, except for the accused No. 11.

The charges include embezzlement, function exploitation, forgery, hiring a forger, money laundering, negligence, and waste of public money.

The second session is set to be held on Oct. 6.

The defendants include the Assistant Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs in the Ministry of Youth, a director working in Al Hussein Youth City, an employee of the Files Division, a warehouse warden, the head of the Administrative Affairs Department, the Head of the Secretariats Department, and a supervisor of one of the youth centers in the ministry.
