What do vaccine rates look like in the Arab world?
According to data, there are steep differences in the vaccination rates between Arab countries.
While the United Arab Emirates- which has been leading the Arab world and globe in vaccination rates since December- has vaccinated nearly 80 percent of its population, five Arab countries have vaccinated around or below one percent.
Three countries- the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, have vaccinated between 70 and 80 percent of their populations.
Meanwhile, three countries- Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Morocco- have vaccinated between 40 to 60 percent of their populations.
Tunisia, Oman, and Jordan have vaccinated between 20 and 40 percent of their populations.
The majority of Arab countries- Lebanon, Comoros, Iraq, Palestine, Algeria, Egypt, Dijibouti, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, and Mauritania- have vaccinated less than 20 percent of their populations.
Notably, Egypt, Iraq, Sudan, and Algeria- all of which rank at the bottom of the list- have the largest populations in the Arab world.
