Sunday, MP Saleh Al-Armouti said he had several questions to ask Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh regarding the authorities that granted licenses to film series that sparked controversy in Jordanian society, such as the Jinn series, the Jaber movie, and AlRawabi School for Girls series.

Armouti stated that based on the provisions of Article 96 of the Constitution and pursuant to the provisions of Article 118 of the House of Representatives’ bylaw, he had the following questions:

1. "Who are the authorities that granted licenses for filming and producing the movie 'Jaber,' the series 'Jinn,' and the series 'AlRawabi School for Girls?"

2. "Who are the Jordanian parties that funded and contributed to producing these series, and what are the external parties that contributed to the production and financing of these films?"

3. "Do the government and the regulatory authorities in our country know that these films offend our Jordanian traditions and principles, spread moral and educational decadence, distort the image of the Jordanian girl, and offend school students across the Kingdom by facilitating the production and representation of such films and series and allowing them to be filmed in Jordan?"

4. "Have the government and the competent authorities been informed of the content of these films, how was the idea of implementing these films in Jordan approved, as they have a negative impact on Jordan, its people and its social security?"

5. "Does the government know that some of the aforementioned films are being told in a way that promotes the idea that Jordan is part of the Zionist entity and that the Jews have inhabited Jordan since the first century AD, especially Petra and Wadi Musa, and concludes that they are part of the Holy Land, according to the claims of the Zionist thought?"

6. "Has any party, whether official or unofficial, addressed the Jordanian Syndicate of Artists to participate in these films and series, and did those in charge of these films and series, and the official bodies that cooperated with them, adhere to the syndicate’s laws?"

7. "Does the government not know that the syndicate, after knowing the content of these films and series, requested the withdrawal of all Jordanian artists from it and objected to the participation of some of its members in these works?"

8. "Does the government know that the syndicate is against showing AlRawabi School for Girls on Netflix for many ethical and professional considerations."

9. "Why are the Jordanian artists and the Artists Syndicate not being supported financially and morally? And why are they not benefiting from the experiences of Jordanian actors, producers and directors? Why does the Jordanian Syndicate of Artists not participate in the censorship process? Why did the government not assist the syndicate in implementing its law in order to collect its fees?"

10. "Is the government not aware that some of these films show Jordan and portray it as a country that is not subject to any legal authority and is characterized by lawlessness that allows the entry and smuggling of weapons and the entry of foreign gangs and do what they want without accountability or supervision and with the help of our people?"

11. "Does the government intend to take measures against those who produce these films and series that harm Jordan and its history?"

12. "Why did the government not support Jordan TV to produce drama aimed at serving the nation's issues?"

13. "Does the government not know that we want committed and purposeful art that mixes creativity with a purposeful message that serves the country and the citizen and maintains social security in light of the political, economic, social and health conditions that the country is going through?"

14. "What is the role of the Royal Film Commission in what has been mentioned about these films, who are in charge of them, and to whom they are affiliated, and is there any censorship of this authority, and what are its financial resources?"

15. "What is the amount of direct and indirect revenues and fees derived from filming, executing and producing these works in Jordan?"

He lastly called on the PM to provide him with a copy of all the talks that took place with the Jordanian Syndicate of Artists regarding texts, scenarios, and all matters related to the production of the aforementioned films and series.
