Germany to stop providing free COVID test in effort to encourage vaccines

The German government announced Tuesday that it will stop providing free rapid COVID-19 tests from Oct. 11 in an effort to encourage vaccinations. 

Free tests will still be available for individuals who are unable to receive the vaccine for medical reasons, and for pregnant women or children, according to the text adopted during a meeting between Chancellor Angela Merkel and the heads of the 16 regional governments.
