A young woman, later identified as Farah Saymeh, died Saturday, July 31, as a result of a go-kart accident inside a racing center in Amman.

The story behind the incident was told by a nurse, Daliah Halbouni, who happened to be in the same place where the incident occurred.

Halbouni shared the story on her Facebook account.

She wrote, “In a series of unfortunate events Farah and I met on July 31, 2021. But we met too late for me to know her spirit, or know how amazing and influential a person she was. I met her as a corpse.”

Halbouni continued that she was having dinner with her family in the same place where the incident happened.

“I suddenly heard screaming,” Halbouni said.

“My cousin, who is a doctor and I started to scan the go-kart track from afar to see what was happening. As the screams intensified, as medical professionals, we felt obligated to go down and see what was wrong. I remember imagining that someone had broken their arm, or gotten scathed by the asphalt. Never in my wildest nightmares did I imagine to see a young woman seemingly lifeless drenched in blood sitting in her go cart. That young woman was Farah.”

She said that staff and witnesses around Farah were paralyzed in fear and no one knew what to do.

“After asking witnesses, it was reported that Farah’s hijab had come loose on one side and got caught in the engine, strangling her from behind,” she continued.

Halbouni immediately said that she is a nurse and her cousin is a doctor.

Both Halbouni and her cousin were saying that they should get Farah out of the car immediately, as she was not breathing.

“She needs CPR. My cousin and I were able to initiate and continue CPR until paramedics arrived after what seemed like an eternity.”

“While pumping on Farah's warm chest all I can remember thinking is how it was possible that a place like a go kart track had NO trained personnel in cases of an emergency. NO lifesaving machinery such as an AED. NO standby medical team.

“All I remember thinking was a few moments prior this lifeless girl was having fun and now she is gone. God rest her soul.”

In turn, a security source told Roya that the concerned authorities have been informed of the incident, and opened an investigation into it.
