Parliamentary Health Committee to meet to discuss Gardens Hospital incident
The Health Committee of the House of Representatives will meet Monday to discuss the power outage incident at the Gardens Hospital and to determine the causes.
The Minister of Health, Feras Al-Hawari, announced at dawn on Sunday that two deaths had been recorded at Gardens Hospital, one of which occurred after the electricity cut in the hospital.
The electricity was cut off in the parts of the hospital designated for coronavirus patients, some of whom were located in the intensive care unit, and on respirators.
The Public Prosecutor in Amman, Hassan Abdallat, decided to form an investigation team of five public prosecutors to investigate the incident.
The team proceeded with investigation procedures, inspecting the scene of the incident, checking medical files of the deceased, and seizing any evidence that would help reach a verdict in the investigation.
Sunday, the Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Ahmed Al-Sarahna, said that one of the death cases in Gardens Hospital was recorded before the power outage, while the second death was recorded shortly after the power outage.
However, family members of one of the deceased, who officials claimed died prior to the outage due to her poor health conditions, said she was in stable health condition before the fact, adding they were not notified of her health deterioration.
