Official says coronavirus situation in Lebanon is 'under control'
Saturday, the Lebanese government announced that the epidemiological situation with regard to the coronavirus and new mutants in Lebanon is under control.
Petra Khoury, advisor to the Lebanese Prime Minister and chairperson of the Executive Committee for the Corona vaccine, said in a press statement that matters are still under control, and the age groups most vulnerable to being affected by the virus have received vaccinations.
However, he called "for the necessity of commitment of young groups because they are the most groups that interact with people and transmit contagion to them."
She added, "Lebanon has crossed the one million mark to receive the first dose of vaccines.
On the other hand, the head of the Lebanese Parliament’s Health Committee, MP Assem Araji, said, “We are afraid of a rise in Corona cases again, indicating that the health sector is suffering due to the interruption of medical supplies and medicines, in addition to the shortage of medical staff from doctors, nurses and nurses, and the high cost of hospitalization.”
He pointed out that "people are no longer adhering to preventive measures, as there is a lack of commitment to wearing a mask and social distancing, as well as overcrowding at weddings and parties.
Araji pointed out that with the arrival of expatriates to visit Lebanon, procedures must be stricter, in order to prevent a further increase in the number of cases, and to take measures that balance the economy and health, because the medical sector is suffering.
