The Russian federal veterinary service announced Monday that mink vaccinated against the coronavirus, using the COVID-19 jab for animals, 'Carnivac-Cov,' appeared to have passed on immunity against the virus to their offspring.

The head of the lab for disease prevention in small animals, Tatyana Galkina, made the hopeful discovery during a discussion at a Moscow agricultural industry trade fair.

She stated the mink cubs, whose mother was immunized six months ago, inherited "colossal immunity."

The agency is set to continue developing studies of antibody levels in the offspring of vaccinated animals.

The 'Carnivac-Cov' vaccine was registered in Russia in March, and is currently the only jab for immunizing animals against coronavirus.

The agency previously announced testing the vaccine on dogs, cats, Arctic foxes, mink, and other animals, with trials showing no causes of harm on the animals.
