On Valentines day this year, a young Ukranian couple believed their love was invincible.

In an effort to prove their love and how serious they were as a couple, Viktoria Postovitova and Alexander Kudlay handcuffed themselves to one another to put their love to the test.

Saturday, four months after their 'permanent pledge,' the couple opted to remove the handcuffs and go their separate ways.

They lasted 123 days in handcuffs, and had to go about their days attached to one another, which included doing tasks like changing clothes and using the toilet.

Reporters flocked to witness them using industrial grade cutters to remove the cuffs.

Kudlay said he realized they had different outlooks on life and Postovitova said she is set to relocate to a different city in hopes of "regaining a full life."

According to local reports, the handcuffs will be put up for auction.

A National Records of Ukraine representative said the couple hold the record for 'most time handcuffed to another person.'
