Russian President Vladimir Putin gifted the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, an “Aurus” - a luxury sedan car of the same type used by Putin himself.

Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), North Korea’s state media, reported that the car was delivered Sunday by a Russian delegation, a sign of strengthening relationships between the two countries, a topic that has raised concerns in the United States.

The car is manufactured by “Aurus,” an automaker founded in 2018 to specifically produce Russia’s state cars.

Relations between Russia and North Korea have been strengthened since the former started their “special military operation” in Ukraine in 2022.

Vladimir Putin welcomed Kim Jong Un last September in Russia in what was the first trip abroad for North Korea’s leader in four years. During the visit, Kim Jong Un inspected Putin’s car and was invited to sit in the back seat while also swapping guns as a gift.
