The Israeli Occupation police arrested the imam and preacher of the Grand Mosque in the city of Lod, Sheikh Yusef Al-Baz, at dawn Thursday, on suspicion of “inciting violence, terrorism and threats.”
Later today, he will appear for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
The arrest was made after obtaining the approval of the police from the Public Prosecution, as it is a crime of incitement.
Al-Baz's arrest came after the incitement of extremist Knesset member Itamar Ben Gvir, from the "Religious Zionism" party.
Sheikh Al-Baz is a prominent leader in the Islamic movement banned by the Israeli Occupation authorities.
