The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) said today that the Nahal Brigade has been withdrawn from the Gaza Strip and replaced by two reserve brigades - the 679th “Yiftah” Armored Brigade and the 2nd “Carmeli” Infantry Brigade.

The Nahal Brigade has operated in the Strip for the past six months, specifically in the “Netzarim Corridor” which is located in the middle of Gaza, splitting it into two.

The IOF said that the withdrawal serves to prepare the brigade for future operations - most likely being the looming invasion of the southern border city of Rafah, which currently houses an overwhelming percentage of Gaza's displaced population.

The Nahal Brigade, which was founded in 1948 and composed of four battalions, has operated in all major wars and operations since, and is considered one of the key units of the Israeli Occupation Forces.
