The Ministry of Social Development issued its report for the month of April which included the services, procedures, and monitoring and follow-up visits carried out by the ministry in its various directorates in the Kingdom.
The media spokesman stated that the Directorate of Combating Begging conducted 398 campaigns, during which 1232 beggars were apprehended.
After being apprehended, beggars are interviewed so that their situation can be better understood.
He added that the directorates of the ministry provided cash assistance to about 41,600 families, while 16,228 families benefited from in-kind assistance.
3102 studies were conducted for the purposes of granting health insurance to poor families, 56 studies were conducted for exemption from treatment expenses, and 28 studies were conducted to settle the rights of heirs, while the number of follow-up visits by departments of nursery and incubation directorates, disabilities, associations, and productivity enhancement and events reached 743 visits.
