The representative of the foodstuff sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Raed Hamadeh, Thursday called for extending home delivery services until Suhoor.

Currently, delivery services are available until midnight.

In a press statement today, Hamadeh stressed the importance of responding to the sector’s demands and increasing working hours through home delivery services to support the steadfastness of establishments to continue their work in light of losses incurred through curfews and lockdowns.

Hamadeh said that the sales of restaurants and sweets stores are usually increased during the holy month of Ramadan, especially after the Iftar hours.

Hamadeh explained that extending working hours through home delivery services allows citizens to secure their needs of sweets and restaurant products for the Suhoor meal, which will positively affect sales, preserve employment, and add to the state treasury's income from taxes levied from these sales.

He reiterated that sector workers are keen to abide by all public health measures put in place.

There are about 18,000 stores in the Kingdom working in the restaurants and sweets sector and employing nearly 100,000 workers.
