Current COVID-19 wave to exceed peak of previous wave, 'we have not seen peak yet': former minister
The former Minister of Education, Walid Al-Maani, wrote on Twitter Friday that it took the Kingdom 16 weeks to record 5,000 cases per week since it did in the previous coronavirus wave.
Therefore, Al-Maani concluded that the current COVID-19 wave will exceed the previous wave by having a higher peak and a wider range. "We are seven weeks into the current COVID-19 wave," said the former minister, adding that the Kingdom has not seen the peak of the wave yet.
"With procedures remaining as they are, we will need at least another 10 weeks for numbers to return to the previous status."
On average, the previous wave recorded around 37,810 per week, said Al-Maani, indicating that the Kingdom will require longer periods of time to descend to 5,000 COVID-19 cases per week.
Between March 18 and March 12, Jordan recorded a total of 56,956 coronavirus cases.
Al-Maani indicated that the descent of the curve can be accelerated by boosting the vaccination process and explanding it.
Other solutions will be required, finalized Al-Maani.
