Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the region needs a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive discussions to address all outstanding issues, warning against interference in the internal affairs of states and violations of their sovereignty.
Safadi stressed that Lebanon deserves to live in security and peace, with full sovereignty over its territory and exclusive control of weapons in the hands of the state. He also expressed support for the Lebanese government in strengthening its authority.
He said Lebanon has suffered significantly from 'Israeli' attacks and reiterated that 'Israel' is taking illegal measures that undermine peace prospects in the occupied West Bank.
He added that the region cannot remain “hostage to Netanyahu’s agenda,” while also welcoming a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Call for Palestinian statehood
Safadi said the absence of a just solution to the Palestinian issue has fueled regional tensions, affirming that Palestinians have the right to freedom and to establish their independent state on their national territory.
The Jordanian foreign minister said regional stability requires addressing external interventions, including Iranian policies, through dialogue and negotiation.
He also reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Gulf countries in defending their security and sovereignty, and said Syria’s government is making what he described as a convincing effort to rebuild the country.
