Sunday, the Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat confirmed that stopping visits and suspending operations in outpatient clinics is temporary, and was imposed to reduce the high coronavirus infection rates in hospitals.

Earlier Sunday, Obeidat announced the suspension of operations in outpatient clinics in hospitals across the Kingdoms including Al-Bashir Hospitals, Jameel Al Totanji Hospital, the New Salt Hospital, Al-Hussein Hospital, the New Zarqa Governmental Hospital, Prince Faisal Hospital, and Al-Nadeem Hospital, effective immediately and until further notice.

Obaidat indicated that health services will continue for emergency cases in all emergency departments, as well as dispensing medication and treatments for chronic diseases and other emergency operations.

He stated that the construction of field hospitals has greatly contributed to reducing the burden in dealing with COVID-19 cases which require admission and treatment instead of direct entry to major hospitals.

Obeidat explained that patients with chronic diseases can take their prescriptions from the specialist clinics regularly.

As for new patients, if the situation is not an emergency, Obeidat said that they will be referred to health centers close to where they live to monitor their health conditions.
