Saturday, the representative of the foodstuff trade sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Raed Hamadeh, said in press statements that commercial traffic increased by more than 50 percent on Fridays, due to the activity of domestic tourism, adding that this "Friday tourism" has revived the Jordanian market.

He added that citizen demand, especially in restaurants, deli's, butcher shops, and food stores, contribute to encouraging domestic tourism, and supporting the commercial and service sectors, which have been affected since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hamadeh noted that the restaurants, foodstuffs and sweet shops cannot bear any new closures or measures that hinder their work, calling on various commercial and service sectors to strictly apply the health protocols set by the Ministry of Health to prevent COVID-19 infections.

There are around 18,000 restaurants and pastry shops in the Kingdom, which emply about 100,000 workers, most of who are Jordanian.
