Thursday during his participation in Roya's Donya ya Donya program, a cardiovascular disease consultant Ayman Hammoudeh announced that in a study conducted by a team of doctors and medical students who won a grant from the Abdul Hameed Shoman Fund for Scientific Research, it was found that approximately 260 individuals suffered from brain and heart strokes during the coronavirus crisis, although they did not contract the virus.

Hammoudeh, who led the study, said that out of the 260 individuals, 20 died and the rest were treated and returned to their normal lives.

He said that the team of specialists noticed since the beginning of the pandemic that a number of people had suffered heart and brain strokes, and upon conducting further studies into the matter, it became very clear that all those who suffered from strokes were feeling some forms of psychological pressure that comes as a result of home quarantine, feelings of loneliness, loss of work, low income, and fear of coronavirus infection.

Additionally, they noticed that the several of those who suffered from strokes neglected warning signs out of fear of going to hospitals due to the coronavirus.

He pointed out that the team consisted of 33 doctors and students from the Jordan University, the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and the Hashemite University, in addition to private sector doctors.

Notably, Hammoudeh stated that the team received an invitation to attend a conference with American cardiologists in Atlanta, Georgia May, in order to present the results of the study, as this study is the only one of its kind globally.
