Countries continue to suspend flights from the UK
Several countries around the world suspended flights to and from the UK due to the discovery of the new strain of COVID-19 on Saturday. The British Minister of Health said the new strain of the virus is 'out of control'.
The countries are:
France
France announced Sunday that it will suspend flights coming from Britain for a period of 48 hours.
Germany
German Health Minister announced that Germany will stop all flights with the United Kingdom starting Sunday and until December 31. The decision does not include cargo flights.
Italy
Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said that Italy suspended flights from and to the UK, adding that anyone who has transited through Britain in the last 14 days is prohibited from entering the country.
Additionally, any person who was in Britain and entered Italy recently, must undergo a PCR test.
Ireland
Dublin has announced that all flights from Britain will be banned starting Sunday and for a period of at least 48 hours.
Canada
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that as a result of the discovery of the new type of coronavirus, Canada will ban all flights from Britain for a period of 72 hours.
Netherlands
The Dutch government said all flights from Britain to the Netherlands have been banned until Jan. 1.
The Ministry of Health stated that one infection with the new strain of the virus was discovered in the country.
Belgium
All flights and trains from Britain to Belgium have been suspended Sunday and for at least 24 hours.
Austria
Austria said it would halt flights from Britain, however, there were no immediate details on the timing of the ban.
Sweden
Swedish Interior Minister Michael Damberg said that the country was "preparing" to ban flights from and to the UK as soon as possible, adding that he is expecting an official decision Monday.
Finland
Finland announced that flights from the United Kingdom will not be allowed to land in Finland for a period of two weeks starting Monday.
Switzerland
Switzerland announced the suspension of flights from Britain and South Africa, where a similar type of virus was discovered, starting Sunday and until further notice.
Baltic states
The three Baltic states, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have suspended all flights from the United Kingdom. Lithuania will allow flights to Britain, however, Estonia and Latvia stopped these flights.
Bulgaria
Bulgaria said that flights to and from Britain have been suspended starting Sunday and until Jan.31.
Romania
Romania has banned all flights to and from Britain for two weeks, starting Monday afternoon.
Croatia
Croatia announced the suspension of flights to and from Britain for a period of 48 hours.
Turkey
Flights from Britain and Denmark have been suspended.
Iran
The official Iranian News Agency reported that the Iranian Ministry of Health has ordered the suspension of flights from Britain for a period of two weeks.
Israeli Occupation
Israeli Occupation said it is preventing entry to those arriving from Britain, Denmark and South Africa.
Saudi Arabia
Sunday, Saudi Arabia suspended all flights from the UK for a period of at least a week.
Kuwait
Kuwait added Britain to the list of "high risk" countries, and suspended all flights to and from the UK.
El Salvador
El Salvador announced that anyone who has been in Britain or South Africa during the past 30 days will not be permitted to enter the country.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong announced Monday that it will ban all flights from Britain.
