Hundreds of supporters of parliamentary election candidates violated total lockdown measures Tuesday night.

These supporters broadcast live videos on their personal Facebook pages celebrating after voting ended, even though the final results of the election are yet to be announced.

Investigations are underway to identify all those who violated lockdown and pursue legal action against them.

The decision to impose a total lockdown after elections was announced by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh during a press conference held on November 1. The aim of the lockdown is to limit further spreading of coronavirus.

Lockdown measures do not apply to election committee employees, election auditors and members of the press. Mosques are allowed to open for Friday Prayer and worshippers must make their way on foot.

Administrative governors have been given the responsibility to grant permits to citizens during the post-election lockdown, which should only be used in emergency cases.
