A few polling stations in Karak and Zarqa experienced overcrowding due to the large number of citizens coming to vote an hour before closing Tuesday.

The Independent Election Commission had previously announced they would extend the voting period by two hours only, if citizens continue to show up in large numbers.

By 6 pm, a total of 1,216,377 ballots had been cast, of whom 644,044 were men and 572,293 females.
