The Director of Public Security (PSD), Major General Hussein Al-Hawatmeh, directed commanders and managers of the field to directly supervise the deployment of security forces in all regions of the Kingdom, stressing the highest levels of impartiality and firmness will be needed in enforcing the laws and instructions during the electoral process.

A total of 53,000 security personnel from various units have begun to be deployed to fulfill duties during the electoral process Monday.

Al-Hawatmeh affirmed that all measures would be taken to provide a safe environment for citizens in all governorates.

He indicated the need to work according to the established security plans and to take all preventive and precautionary measures to maintain public health which will enable voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote, as organized in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, the Independent Election Commission (IEC), and other relevant authorities.

The rule of law will be imposed without discrimination or prejudice in order to preserve the rights, security and health of citizens. Individuals who violate defense orders will be dealt with accordingly, he added.

The parliamentary elections begin Tuesday at 7am, and ballot boxes will be open in all governorates in Jordan until 7pm.

Individuals in home isolation will be permitted to vote from 7 PM to 9 PM to avoid possible coronavirus transmission.
