A number of journalists organised a protest in solidarity with their fellow cartoonist, Emad Hajjaj, who was arrested over publishing a controversial cartoon, in front of the Palace of Justice in Amman Thursday morning.

The protestors demanded the immediate release of their arrested colleague and called for the charges to be dropped. They called Hajjaj's arrest a violation of the right to media freedom.

Police arrested cartoonist, Hajjaj, on Wednesday, for publishing a cartoon insulting an Arab country.

The Center for Freedom and Protection of Journalists' CEO, Nidal Mansour, said Hajjaj was arrested for the case published under the Cybercrime Law.
