Jaber Border Crossing into Syria closes from Thursday

The Jaber Border Crossing into Syria will be closed for one week starting Thursday, the government announced on Wednesday.

The decision came as a result of the sudden increase in local coronavirus cases in Jordan, all of which are linked to travellers entering the Kingdom from Syria.

If authorities close the border crossing, new safety measures will be implemented to prevent the entry of positive COVID-19 cases into Jordan.

Investigation teams continue to track down people who came in contact with people who tested positive for coronavirus.

Jordan recorded more than 30 cases of COVID-19 in three days, all of which are linked to the border and travellers who came in infected with the coronavirus.
