  • The shooters had barricaded themselves inside an abandoned house in Karak Governorate and opened fire on security forces, according to the directorate.
  • Authorities say firearms and ammunition were seized at the location.

Jordanian security forces arrested three individuals identified as the perpetrators of a terrorist attack against Jordanian citizens at a church in the village of Hamoud, in Karak Governorate, following an armed confrontation at dawn on Monday, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced.

In a statement, the directorate said joint special investigation and raid teams, working alongside other security agencies, located the three after continuous search and combing operations that began immediately after the attack.

The three had barricaded themselves inside an abandoned house and refused to surrender, instead opening fire on the security force, according to the statement.

Security personnel subsequently applied the rules of engagement and brought the confrontation under control, arresting all three after they were injured. No injuries were reported among the security personnel, the directorate said.

Authorities also seized a number of firearms and ammunition after searching the location where the suspects were found.

In its statement, the directorate condemned terrorism and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Jordan's security and the safety of its citizens. It also renewed its condolences for those martyred in the attack and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The directorate concluded by saying Jordan would remain resilient against attempts to undermine its security, stability and the safety of its citizens.
