Jordan’s Eastern Military Region Command thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics into the Kingdom using guided balloons early Sunday, the Jordanian Armed Forces said.
Border Guard units detected the balloons as they attempted to cross into Jordanian territory and brought them down inside the Kingdom, seizing the drugs they were carrying.
The operation was carried out in coordination with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The seized substances were referred to the relevant authorities for legal procedures.
The Jordanian Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to countering infiltration and smuggling attempts, monitoring evolving methods used by smugglers, and taking the necessary operational measures to thwart them.
