No decision has been taken yet by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) to postpone bank loan installments for June, an informed source at the CBJ said today.

The source told Roya that the CBJ is considering postponing the loan installments for June in light of the developments of the coronavirus crisis.

Last month, banks were directed to postpone loan installments on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr and due to the crisis.

Prime Minister Omar Razzaz issued amendments to the Defence Order No. (6), allowing employers to cut salaries by 60%, provided that the worker’s salary after the reduction slides to below JD150. In this case, the Ministry of Labor approval of the salary cut is not required.

The amendments also allow the business owner to lay off the employee according to Article (28) of the Labor Law.
