Jordan confirms 16 new coronavirus cases, total cases rise to 629

The Minister of Health, Saad Jaber, has announced that 16 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Jordan today, bringing the total number of cases reported since the beginning of the crisis to 629.

During a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, the Minister said that among the new cases are seven people who had direct contact in the Al-Khanaseri area of Mafraq, four Jordanian truck drivers who were tested at the Al-Omari border crossing, three students who returned from Malaysia yesterday and two cases in Irbid governorate. 

The Minister affirmed that the epidemiological inspection teams are working to find out how the two cases in Irbid contracted the virus.

He mentioned that five new recovery cases were reported in the Kingdom today, including two at Prince Hamzah Hospital, two at King Abdullah University Hospital and one at Queen Alia Military Hospital.

"Nearly 3,500 random tests have been conducted today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the beginning of the crisis to 144,356," Jaber confirmed.
